It's official: DOJ Receives Criminal Referral over Obama's Russia Hoax
Gabbard’s referral, announced on July 21, 2025, accuses Obama, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper of manipulating intelligence to push the discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative.

July 21, 2025 - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has confirmed receipt of a bombshell criminal referral from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, alleging that former President Barack Obama and his national security team orchestrated a "treasonous conspiracy" to undermine President Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory. Declassified documents reveal a calculated effort to fabricate a Russian interference narrative, setting the stage for a years-long coup attempt against a duly elected president.
Gabbard’s referral, announced on July 21, 2025, accuses Obama, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper of manipulating intelligence to push the discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Over 100 declassified documents, released on July 18, 2025, show that prior to the 2016 election, the intelligence community consistently assessed Russia was “probably not trying” to influence the election through cyberattacks. Yet, post-election, Obama’s team pivoted, directing the creation of a new intelligence assessment that falsely claimed Russian meddling, relying partly on the debunked Steele Dossier.
On December 9, 2016, Obama convened top National Security Council members, including Clapper, Brennan, Susan Rice, John Kerry, and Loretta Lynch, to discuss Russia. Following this meeting, Clapper’s assistant tasked intelligence leaders with crafting a new report alleging Russian election interference, contradicting earlier findings. By January 6, 2017, this politicized assessment was released, fueling the Mueller investigation, media smears, and heightened U.S.-Russia tensions. Gabbard calls this a deliberate attempt to “subvert the will of the American people” and delegitimize Trump’s presidency.
Conservatives have long suspected foul play in the Russia probe, and Gabbard’s evidence reignites calls for accountability. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) demand arrests, citing violations of 18 U.S. Code 1001 for false statements. “This is about the republic,” Donalds emphasized, underscoring the gravity of weaponizing intelligence against a sitting president. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) also criticized Comey’s handling of the Steele Dossier while giving Hillary Clinton a pass on her email scandal.
Democrats, however, dismiss the allegations. Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) mocked the referral, claiming it won’t lead to action, while Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) questioned Gabbard’s suitability as DNI. Despite their pushback, the declassified documents, including a December 8, 2016, Presidential Daily Brief stating Russia did not impact election results, bolster Gabbard’s claims. The DOJ, under Attorney General Pam Bondi, now faces pressure to investigate and potentially prosecute those involved.
This scandal exposes a disturbing abuse of power at the highest levels. For conservatives, it’s a vindication of their distrust in the Deep State and a rallying cry to protect the integrity of our elections. The American people deserve justice for this alleged betrayal of democratic principles.
